There should be away around it.
Most use the cycle key while holding unlock button on door
My 98 pickup used jump 2 pins on DLC to put it into program mode
neither work on this one

^^^^ This is the correct answer. GM's diagnostic tool is required to program new remotes for a 2005-2006 Equinox. There is no way to circumvent this. The 2007 and newer models allow you to program new remotes yourself using the Driver Information Center (which the 2005-2006 models don't have).
