Keyless entry remote not always working.

I have a 2005 Chevy equinox with two keyless entry remotes. Few months back, my primary remote stopped unlocking the car. The lock button would work fine, but the unlock wouldn't. I changed the battery, and had the same result. I grabbed my backup remote, changed the battery, and the same thing happened. I could lock the car with the remote, but the unlock wouldn't work. If i sit there and press the unlock button on the remote repeatedly, it sometimes does unlock. Sometimes after 10 seconds, other times after several minutes. Anyone run into this before? I can't find a whole lot of information on this issue or where the receiver is at for the keyless entry on this car.
