Default My Link/Navigation

Thinking of buying a Equinox we looked at today and it's got the Navigation/GPS feature. My question is do you have to have a contract with OnStar before the Navigation feature will work or will it work as a stand alone GPS once the free OnStar expires?

my understanding is this:

the onstar turn by turn nav expires with the onstar subscription.

the systems with a nav screen have nav software that is with the car permanently and work without onstar subscriptions.

Tech2,

This is correct. Turn-by-Turn navigation is dependent upon an active Directions & Connections OnStar subscription, but your in-dash NAV system will continue to function independent of OnStar. I hope this helps!
