Default New to me 08 Equinox Sport AWD 3.6

Greetings all,
I just got a used 08 Equinox Sport AWD with the 3.6 in it. The car is well loaded, and seems to run well, but I am still trying to figure a few things out. I have done some research and I see a lot of folks going on about the timing chain having issues? What is up with that? My Nox has about 105K miles on it... should I worry about it? And from the research I have done, everyone seems to automatically change the entire system, when it look like the issue is worn out guides and tensioners, couldn't you just replace them and let it go at that? Or is this a case of... you are in there... do it all... it is not much harder...

That is all for now. Let me know what my I have to look forward to.

John

Many times there is a kit which speaks to the issue,
with your particular MMY, and engine.
I've pulled apart systems to replace riming belts,
(not your specific vehicle)
and it was just easier to replace the waterpump at the
same time, than worry about ripping everything
apart again, later.
