I was just wondering if an LAF (2.4 i4 engine) would fit in the bonnet of a 2006 Chevy Equinox.

Thanks and Happy Holidays to all.

The 2.4L is essentially a bigger displacement 2.2L Ecotec which is used in the 2002-2007 Saturn Vue. So, yes, I do believe it will fit. It may even mount right in using mounts from the Vue, but you'd have to research that.

I'm not sure it would be worthwhile to attempt this swap as there is much more to it than just whether or not the engine will physically fit into the chassis.

It is pretty much a sure bet that modifying the electrical system/wiring to make it work in the Equinox would be a bigger challenge.

Hmm, Good point. ECU settings would definitely be different.

The 2.4 you're talking about (Saturn VUE), is that basically the same engine as the one in the newer noxes? 'Cause I was talking about that one. I really thought Saturns uses Honda engines?

Thanks for the reply.

I think you may be confused. What I was saying is that the 2.4L engine found in the 2010+ Equinox is pretty much the same engine as the 2.2L with a little more displacement.

The chassis of the 2002-2007 Vue is similar to that found on your 2006 Equinox. I was saying that since the 2.2L fits in those years of the Vue and the 2.4L found in the new Vue/Equinox is similar to the 2.2L that it would likely fit in your older Equinox.

Honda only supplied the engine & transmission for V6-equipped 2004-2007 Saturn Vue. The 2.2L Ecotec 4-cylinder engine used in the 2002-2007 Vue is made by GM.

ahhhh, clear on that. Oh that's right, the 3.5s same as in the Ridgelines. I see. So, I would be looking for the 2.2s from the Vues then.

Thanks much man, happy new year to you and yours. You've been much help.
