P0014/P0024 Errors
I have a 2010 GMC terrain, just bought it used. Garage bought at said among other things that the timing chain was done this year, not sure if related or not.
They also said that the previous owner said they had an intermittent engine light come on, but they've never witnessed it. Didn't take long for me to get it though.
Always a P0024, and sometimes both P0014/P0024, never P0014 on it's own.
I have the V6 3.0l, so of course they're not as easy to get to as they are on the 4cyl version, plus twice as many and cost more. Yay!
Anyways, when I got the car I flushed the engine, which I always do with new(used) cars and hoped it would fix the issue. I ran LiquiMolly through for 20min, drained, filled with Pennzoil Platinum full synthetic and a cheap filter, ran for 20, drain, filled, ran for 20min again and then put a Mobil1 filter on it and refilled it. So, engine oil should be clean and I used a good quality oil as well, and level is fine.
The engine light will go out for days, pop back on for a few days and vanish again. Maybey while driving, right at startup, or sitting in the drive-through line waiting for cofee. Just randomly pops on, and randomly gone again.
Very small town (village) and a very busy mechanic, I often end up doing my own work these days. How serious is this? Could this be related to the chain replacement? or maybe they never did and lied?

Last ones I had were below. Came on yesterday, was on today when I drove to the gas station, then after getting gas I started the car up and light's been off ever since. Drove 3 straight hours and no light.

it's definitely timing related. Assuming the sensors are working correctly, they could have installed the chain incorrectly, or not at all. Or they didn't bother replacing the tensioning hardware.
You should always have vehicles you're looking at inspected by a third party for this very reason.

Usually I do, but vehicle was 3h away. In Ontario, a, Equinox/Terrain V6 AWD with rocker panels that aren't rotted off, is very hard to find. This (apparently) had the timing chain and transfer case replaced this year, and new rockers welded on. Combined with low mileage and desperation for a working vehicle, kinda had to gamble that the garage wasn't crooked.
So... Bought this 2010 Terrain v6, and started bringing up those errors.
About 2000km / 2 months before I bought it, the timing chain and all the guides and such were replaced. This was done at about 188,000km, it's at 191,000km now.
First thing I did was flush the engine. Used LiquiMoly, ran 20min and drained, filled with Penzoil Platinum full synth and a new filter, ran 20min, drained, filled, ran 20min and filled again and another filter put in (Mobil extended filter). So oil is clean and good.
So, solenoids next. Bought 4 genuine GM solenoids and replaced them. Been driving 2 months without any errors at all and thought it was all fixed.
Then today, the same errors popped up again.
At my wits end with this car. What else could be the issue? and don't say "take it to the dealer"... it negates the point of a forum.
