Putting 2007 engine in 2005
I have a 2005 equinox and it threw a rod. I bought what I thought was a 2005 engine from a guy off the internet. Put the engine in but couldn't get it to start. It would turn over but never fire. Come to find out that it was an engine out of a 2007 equinox not a 2005. Is there any way to get the 2007 engine to work in the 2005? They guy offered to give me the computer and wiring harness if that would help. It's getting fuel but no spark.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Jeremy

You can't use the computer and harness because other devices on the 2005 vehicle won't be able to communicate with the 2007 computer; specifically the BCM and gauge cluster.
