My 2019 Equinox came factory equpped with 19"wheels. I bought it used, it has Kumho low profile tires. They are hard with little tread dept even when they are new. The problem is that when I do anything but very moderate acceleration it breaks traction easily. When exiting a drive, business exit etc the car jumps around due to the traction control applying the brakes to a wheel when it breaks traction. In the rain it's like driving on snot.
What I want to do is replace the 19" wheels with stock 17" wheels and All Weather tires. If I do that will I need to recalibrate the speedometer/odometer. Is there a procedure for doing this?

 

I’m finding the 2019 was equipped with 17” wheels and 18” were optional - double check the tire placard in the driver door jamb to verify the size. If it actually was equipped with 19” wheels from the factory, 17” wheels may not clear the brake calipers.

If the factory wheels are 19” then the issue sounds like a fault with the traction control system. Being a ‘19 I would expect the warranty to cover it unless it’s already exceeded the mileage.

 

They're 19" the cars equiped with the towing package and the 19" wheels are listed on the build sheet.

They list it as having 19" wheels.
It's going in for an oil change next week if I get the chance and I'll ask the dealer about it. It's still under warranty and is a certified car to boot so I shouldn't have any trouble getting the problem with the traction system looked at too.

the dealer can go into the ebcm and set the tire and rim size to match what size you are running. this will correct the speedo and ensure proper shift timing.
