08 express 3500 lost power while driving on interstate.

08 express 3500 lost power while driving on interstate.
Looking for some insight as to why the van lost engine power but still had radio, and all other electrical controls. Mechaninc says the computer is burned up but is have trouble flashing a new one to the van. Any information or insight would be appreciated. Thank you
