Default 1995 G30 Sportvan - Possible Speed Sensor Issue?

Hello, I have a question about my van and need some help. My issue is my speed odometer always sits on zero no matter what speed I'm going. It used to work when I first got the van, but now it seems to have stopped. It did go out a couple of weeks ago, but then out of the blue started working again. Now we are back to not working. Sometimes when its not working the van will not go into second gear (passing gear). Its an automatic, so when the speed odometer stops working it seems that does not want to cycle through the gears as I'm driving it. I've read some stuff in various places online that said it maybe the speed sensor. Does anyone have any thoughts? Thanks.

Yeah I thought it was pretty weird that I lost it, it came back and now has gone away again. I'll see about checking the wiring to see if there looks like anything is messed up. Thanks.
