Default 2005 2500 blower motor fail

Hello All. A week ago I smelled burning wiring from my heater vents; then the blower stopped working. I pulled, and checked the motor. it seemed a little *grabby*, but did spin at speed. I then found the A and C(power) terminals melted on the blower resistor. The 40 amp fuse was popped as well.. Today I replaced the resistor and fuse. I fired up the truck and the blower worked; on high only, and for about 30 seconds. Then the resistor burned again, and popped the fuse. Anyone have a clue what's going on..what I'm missing? Thanks

The bearing on the motor is probably bad. When it stalls, it shorts out and burns out all that other stuff. Connect a strong 12V bulb (such as a headlight) in place of the motor and see what happens.

Thanks. I suspected the blower, but why was it only working on high with a new resistor?

High speed bypasses the resistors.
