Default 86 G20 5.0L Oil pressure gage & unrelated unidentified sensore

Hey Guys. I'm Brad, a new member and I have a 1986 G20 Van, 5.0L.

Oil Pressure gage looks like it's not working. Needle doesn't budge from 0. However, I have plenty of oil, no significant leaks and no lifter or engine noise that would indicate a real loss of oil pressure. Here's what I've done / checked, etc.

replaced Oil sending unit
20A fuse for the gages tests good using ohm meter
Temp & voltage gages work properly
No longer any dummy lights when you 1st turn ignition to run

Any ideas? How do I test whether guage is working?

On a completely different matter. I have a sensor on the driver's side of the engine with a single lead attached with a spade connector. The sensor sits between and above the 1st and 2nd spark plug wires toward the front. I just broke off the connector tab. Anybody know what this sensor might be?
