Default Box Under Carpet Center Console?

I purchase a 2014 Express Passenger van from Enterprise earlier this year. It was part of their lease fleet.

I’ve been driving it with a cooler in the center console and noticed an indentation in the carpet from a large square box(see photo). I can’t pull the carpet up but can barely touch it beneath the carpet and feel wires coming from it.

Any idea what it is?

Accelerometer. It senses motion of the vehicle for the stability control system (see owners manual).

Bingo! Thank you very much. After image searching it looks like the actual box is a plastic shield to protect the accelerometer beneath it, so I should be OK to continue resting my cooler on it.
