If an AC system has been leaking then oil has been lost. Below is the refrigerant oil capacities, as you can see the condenser holds 1oz. At a minimum the system is 1oz short. Any time a AC system has been leaking it is recommend the accumulator be replace as moisture could now be in the system eventually causing failure of the decadent bag. Anytime a AC system is opened the system should be vacuumed for two reasons. 1 to pull out any air. 2 and more importantly to remove any moisture that enters the system when opening it to make the repair. Water boils at anything under 28"Hg the more humid it is outside the longer the vacuum should be pulled. 3 you can tell if system has a leak still by holding the vacuum, if it does not hold you have a leak still. Will the system work with out the proper steps? Yes. Will it work to full potential? No. Could it cause premature failure of the system? Absolutely So the real question is do you feel lucky? This is like playing the lottery. If the compressor motor fails for any reason and puts metal in the system your problems get real bad.

Makes sense makes sense, not quite sure about the low side pressure having to be above 40 PSI, the green or acceptable range is from 25 PSI to 55 PSI on my gage ( ID Q gage), but agree that it should perform better on the high side of that range. Compressor is kicking in before 35 PSI so not sure of the design for the switch on. Vent temps still fine, no freezing, but loud and clear on the vacuum and removal of humid air and water before refilling. Also proper disposal if it has to be emptied is known. Maybe they should have a compressed air product for adding oil to the system and measuring how much is in the system, that would be interesting. Otherwise I believe you have to drain the system and add the oil after removing the valve.
Excellent chart on oil and charge capacity from the super moderator. applause applause, I had not seen that one.
