Default how to get around the anti theft system

its an 09 express 3500 box truck. previous owner lost the key and tore the column apart to get it into neutral to move it. now the light that looks like a car with a padlock is lit up and wont go off. i have the key now and i tried letting it sit for 10 minutes with the key in the on position but the light never goes off. the sensor that goes over the ignition switch is in place but the two green wires are just hanging there and i cant see where they go. i assume its the park safety switch and i just have them taped together. i also tried unhooking the battery for 30 minutes to no avail. i have searched and searched all over the internet and all i find is the relearn processes, which dont seem to work. i can supply the vin number if needed but i just think im missing something. is there any other way to get around it? i havent bought the truck yet but i need it in the next couple of days or to find another option. any and all help is greatly appreciated.

go to charm.li
There you will find electrical schematics to hook the wires back up, and the PASSLOCK reset procedure.
No, you cannot get around it, nor would I tell you how on a public forum.

I wouldn't assume anything. I would go find the schematic. Post it here if you like and you need confirmation.

It was on a Malibu, but I got the Dorman setup, followed the directions, and it worked. Wiring issues are a different issue. Do you have a key with a chip? Does it have keyless entry? Do you have a key fob? You can check the RPO codes in the door frame.

No fob. Manual locks and windows. The green wires I mentioned before were for the key sensor. I thought that would be the issue so I replaced the ignition switch and still the passlock light doesn't go out after 10 minutes. I'm at a loss here

try the passlock reset. It's also in the manual.
