Default Newest Express headache

My last thread chronicled my frustrations with a simple tuneup on my van. Since then I have driven 1500 miles on a fishing trip with the boys for the 14th year. We tow a box trailer full of booze and fishing equipment up North and howl @ the Moon for a week. Since the tune-up and assorted issues I faced, I have had to give it a shot of Surestart to get it going every morning. Once that is done She runs like a champ. I have been told it sounds like a temperature sensor is defective leaving the computer to believe the engine is warm enough to start in a "closed loop" meaning no rich mixture, closed choke and high RPMs to start. Where is this sensor and can I replace it myself. Is it the sensor in the intake housing right in front of the throttle body? If so that would be an easy fix and hopefully a reasonable price. Also I need to change the fuel filter. Does it run along the driver's side frame rail as I suspect? Thanks for your informative help ahead of time.

If there is a bad sensor, would it not show up on a code reader? A big shop one not a handheld....
