I am thinking about buying a 1976 g20 van that has a 350 and 3 speed rwd auto trans I think in it. It has been converted to 4X4 with a 203 transfer case but also has a 205 case to go with it.
What options for a overdrive auto trans will fit and what options that are the same length if at all ?
Is a 3 speed rwd the same as a turbo 350 ?
Thanks for the help Tim

TH350, TH400 are 3 speed RWD transmissions. 350s were with the small to mid sized 8 cylinders and the 400s were for the big blocks V8s.
If you want to do OD in this thing and equip it with a 4x4 then you ll have to think about a 700-R4 from the 80s or 4L80 from the 90s.
But you ll have to be concerned about bellhousing bolt matching and running cooling lines and the additional electronics to shift the transmission if you move to a 90s style trans. You better off moving up to a TH400 if you produce enough torque as a 4x4, but the case has to be a truck case or there will be no place to bolt up the transfer case.
