I just purchased a 1992 GMC 2500 Vandura. I am looking for some guidance on the overhead interior light panel. Its very temperamental and I would like to replace it. I cant seem to find any information on this panel all. Would you all have any ideas?
you can try to find one at a junkyard, but 30yo parts will be hard to find. If I were you, I'd try to repair the one you have. Open it up, clean the contacts etc.
All those things were proprietary to each conversion company, it's not a GM part of any kind.
A lot of the parts they used are unbelievably cheap. I once ripped into the back of one in a junkyard for something and the interior side panels were like 1/8ths thick pine paneling like was popular to use in houses in the 70s, coated with the fabric material, with lots of small pieces kitted together inside.
I would determine how the circuit works and replace them with something decent. Advance Auto sells an LED toggle for about $8 that comes in four colors, it would be easy to make a panel to mount them in.
