Default 1999 G 2500 pinging like hell-help!

Hello,
I own a 1999 with a new motor, has about 50k on it.I have owned the truck for almost 2 yrs with no issues.Suddenly, now,it pings like hell under a light throttle. My mechanic has scoped the motor, says the timing, egr, etc. is all to spec.Mid grade fuel or hi test makes no difference. He says it could be carbon deposits. I hate driving the thing like it is...help!
Thank You,
Rick

What do the plugs look like? Have you bought gas recently from a source new to you?

Kev,
The van has been in the shop twice in the last month, first was radiator&water pump, than new brake line. With all that work performed, the motor was only put on the scope for diagnostic and that was it.Its been an expensive month! As far as the fuel, ive always bought it at the same location.

I know about costs. Still, and if carbon is suspect, plug will tell you. If you're partial mechanically incline, you can check it yourself.
I realize it's in a van, that makes access tough.

So,your saying new plugs could stop the pinging if they are black with carbon?

What I am saying is spark plugs will tell you whats going on in the combustion chamber, rich, lean, fouled with oil, ect.
