2000 express dead 5.7 What are my options?
HI. The motor died I'm my 2000 express 5.7.
looking at eBay shows part numbers that interchange motors from vans and trucks from 1996 to 2000 but not vans 2001-2002. We're those vans configured any different that a motor from a 2001 or 2002 that it won't swap into a 2000.it's my understanding that trucks changed motors in 99/00 Era and the vans changed in 2003.
any advise would be helpful

From my experience of personally replacing 8 full size van engines Dodge, Ford and GM you will save yourself a significant amount of money and time by doing a direct swap same motor, same vehicle and same year (example 5.7L, Express 2500,year 2002). I make that statement because the motor maybe interchangeable but small items like electrical connections,accessory brackets, oil pans oil pump pickup location all these small differences can be compensated for but that takes TIME so save the time and cash and do a direct swap. Same van same trim level same year.

Do NOT get a boneyard / salvage motor! Way too many of the 5.7L's died from the defective intake gasket issue that flooded the crankcase with coolant thus killing the bearings & bottom end. Ask me how I know...
If you must keep this van... (in retrospect I damned sure wouldn't have kept mine) then I urge you to get a crate remanufactured motor with the best warranty you can get.
