Default 2001 Express 3500 5.7L oil leak at timing cover

Greetings: I will be replacing my water pump in a few days and noticed some oil leaking from the bottom of the timing chain cover. Can some one tell me if removing the cover and replacing the gasket is a simple process. I have read that the oil pan may have to be loosened in order to get the timing cover off. Also, any other information or recommendations on maintenance while I'm in there would be appreciated. This is my work truck. Bought it new. Has only 140K original miles. Changed oil every 2K religiously. Treat her well.
Thank You

Thank you Mountainmanjoe. Excellent link..Looks pretty straight forward. I have to ask, loosing and separating the oil pan (carefully) will not compromise the gasket ?

I would replace the oil pan gasket as well.
