2002 Savana Door Panel Conversion
Hi all, noob here.
I have a 2002 GMC Savana from Explorer Conversions. The front door armrests (both sides) have completely bitten the dust. Looks like GM did a poor job engineering this one, as every one that I find in a junk yard has the same problem...the armrests/door handles pull through the screws over the course of time.
It looks like this issue was addressed on the next generation 2003-up. Will the later interior door panels fit my van? Everything I'm reading says they should, but I'd like to know, for certain, before I lay out $300+ for the updated ones.
Thanks!

I doubt most dealers will help you out much. The handle on my '06 was also loose, but I fixed it by using some extra washers and glue.
The only other thing I can recommend is to find someone with a newer one to test.

When my truck was at Maaco for other work I asked them if they could fix that exact problem (on a 99 same deal). They cut a piece of metal to fit inside the opening of the arm rest (where the screws are). Drilled holes to match and put in either bolts or screws. Problem solved.
