Default 2008 3500 Cargo DIC Compass Calibration

Just purchased a Roadtrek van camper on a 2008 Chevy 3500 chassis with a 6.0L. The DIC compass has been calibrated several times (across the continent) and done according to the user manual. Despite my best efforts, clockwise or anti-clockwise circles, I end up with the compass showing West despite the fact that I am pointed Northwest, North or Northeast.
Has anyone experienced this problem? How was it cured? Is there a bulletin on this? Am I wasting my time trying to fix it? Should I cut my losses and go for a replacement rear mirror with a compass?

Thanks in2pro, I'm on the road, so checking in with a dealer is down the road.

magnetic fields are affected by electronics, strong magnetic fields, and large bodies of metal. Is your van modified, or do you have aftermarket accessories?
