Yea, I m surprised man, because even a Trailblazer/Astrovan with the same engine can tow 5500lbs on a Class II/III hitch. 4400lbs is like wimpy for a full size van, I mean if it was like a Equinox or Impala or something I could believe it, but an Express? But anyway, you got it fixed. Kudos to you.

I hope you're right Thumper_eehhhhhh, because my budget is now spent. I am going to do as you say and hope for the best. I will set aside a few bucks each month to get the v/8; will probably take a couple years but I only pay cash for my vehicles. Payment books are not cool.

RacerX I bet it's just a total mass issue. The body and frame of the Express would be heavier than an Astro, deducting available power for payload.

The 17" wheels I don't understand. Just more mass to overcome.

Then again,what do I know? The last Chevy van I had any wheeltime in was a 1978 model.

Make sure you get a transmission temp guage. Or you might be right back where you are though.
