Any help or advice...

Had a trip in my 1989 G20 / 6.2 diesel auto yesterday. Just had a new injector pump fitted and going very well - but noticed some gear changes being a bit odd and not very smooth.

Then really slipping in top gear. Not long after could hardly get any drive in top.

Managed to get home some way in lower gears!

Now to get fixed...... Any advice much appreciated

 

I always reccomend a good local tranny shop.....unless you are up to the maze of parts inside a tranny to fix yourself.

 

Agreed - beyond my mechanical skills for sure!

Just trying to get any possible thoughts on the problem before finding someone.

My turbo 350 on my 1990 van went and I had no first gear....but it drove fine second and drive.....just harder to get going. It was a long time ago, but the tranny had to be dropped and several components replaced. In your case it sound worse than that, so might be full rebuild time.....
