Default 6.6 engine

I ordered a 2021 3500 express in December with a 6.6 engine and as delivery comes close I was told it may not be built this year and may have to wait till 2022 because engines arent available. Is this true? whats up?

I've heard a lot of news about lack of computer chips shutting down automotive production lines. There are a number of chips in an ECU.

Seems like that would affect them across the board, they all use a PCM or ECU

Of course you are right but also just because they all use an ECU doesn't mean they all use the same ECU. I shouldn't have narrowed it down. There are chips on everything these days from inside the windshield wiper motor to inside the tires. There are about 100 on a vehicle. There might be some 6.6L specific chip out there and I have no idea what it might be because I haven't seen a 6.6L specific article.
