'76 G20 van pinion bolt question
In the rear end differential the pinion bolt has broken off inside. How do I remove the broken piece? Or should I be looking for a new rear end. According to the parts house, this is a common problem. I have the bolt head with 1/2" of threads. I don't know how much is left in there.
Help!!
Thanks!
I did find a tool, at http://www.etoolcart.com/index.asp?P...mp;ProdID=9442 in case anybody else has this problem.
Anyone have any experience in using this tool?

Tool works great. I've used it several times on both GM and Ford broken pinion shaft lock bolts.
It says it works in 5 minutes, but your first time using it, allow 15. It's a very simple procedure and saves damage to the carrier, I know I've done it all - torch, hammer, grinder. This tool is awesome!
I got mine at www.fabbriassociates.com, but I checked your link and it is the same tool. Matco and Snap-on also have one but I'm not sure it by Fabbri.

Hi Bo, thank you for all your help. The old broken bolt is out, the new one in, and I will hopefully go get the last smog cert it will ever need this week.
I bow to your mechanical superiority! [sm=hail.gif]
Thank you again!
