8 lug 16.5 to 16 wheels
I recently picked up an 86 sportvan g30. the wheels on it are 8 lug 16.5's. Nobody makes wheels this size anymore and 2 of mine are bent. Also, nobody but Firestone makes 16.5 tires and they are twice the price of 16's. I've got a set of 16" wheels(new) that are supposed to fit an 84 g30 but the centers are bigger(about 1/4 in).
Being 8 lug wheels, I'm assuming that chevy vans like this are hub centric. Can I use the bigger hub wheels (making my van lug centric)or do I need to get somebody to make me a set of hub centric spacer rings(or just come up wit a different set of wheels) ? This vehicle will get very little use ( primarily as a tow vehicle for my car trailer).
I'm sure this question has come up before, but I searched the site and came up empty. Thanks in advance

Virtually all of the generic aftermarket wheels are not hub-centric, including 8-lug. No need for a hub centering ring - just be sure to torque the wheels to specification while it is unloaded (e.g. off the ground).
