94 G20 - Won't idle without foot on gas pedal. Hook latch broken.
Alrighty.. 1994 Chevy G20 Cargo...
PROBLEM: Van will not run unless your foot is on the gas pedal..
The van will idle sporadically, however at a VERY low RPM.. and will stall eventually. Everytime.
I assumed it was just needing to be warmed up.. not the case. This is no matter the temperature. The only difference temp made was sometimes I had to put the pedal on the floor to restart it when it was hot.
Runs just fine as long as you never let off of the gas pedal. Even at 55 mph, if you take your foot off.. prepare to panic as you try to get it started while you lack power steering or braking.
I assumed that perhaps the idle needed to be adjusted, however.. I can't get the hood open to begin with. Black **** is just that, a ****, it does nothing.
I can't even tell you what type of engine I've got in it. I can tell you, however, that the odometer is at 394,000.
This van was owned by the city of Hooks TX, until the previous owner purchased it.
Any ideas? Or tips on opening up the hood? I'm going to assume this is a carb'ed motor with the way it acts
