Hi. Can't find out how to remove arm rest, front seat 98 chevy 1500 LS van. No bolt on outside of rest. Moved it up and down, applied pressure nothing works. When I push in on the side of the seat there isn't any room to see the pin and clip if it is there?? I haven't removed the seat because off it would not give me any more room to access what ever is behind the arm rest. The seat is a captains type w/no separate head rest. Any ideas would be helpful!!

 

Is there not a plastic cover over the screw?

 

I know the arm rest for pick-ups have a pin that must be pulled from a slotted groove on the arm rest stud. It can only be accessed with the seat back upholstery pulled up.

The vans may be different??

Are you saying, pull the cover, after removal, up ??

 

for the trucks; the seat back uphostery comes together near the seat cushion. It is secured with plastic channels that butt together. Unclip the channels, pull the upholstery up to access the clip. Remove the clip and pull the arm rest out.

The clip is really hard to see so get a light and move the seat foam aside the best you can.

 

Thanks for the idea, The back of the seat will have to be removed, clips removed at bottom and rolled up to see clip, correct??

 

it may be easier with the seat back removed but it can be done with it on.
