Default Tow package

Vinivan

Thanks for your Post.... thats a great assumption on the trailer connection.
if you look closely at the fuse panel.. it appears it has Never been connected
When I bought the Van I was told that it was never used for towing. yet.... I have
already Dissected the door label My Van is equipped with Towing package
however ( side note on that ) Why does it not have a separate Trans Cooler like
my GMC truck does.. HHHHMMMMM... makes me wonder what they actually
consider ( tow package ) lol.... any ways...
I will check into what your talking about in the mean time the picsI posted
Do the wires look like the Tow package wires?

Yes that is the brake controller wiring.

You should find a bundle of wires heading down the drivers side frame rail as well to the trailer hitch.
In the bundle :
(Heavy gauge) red, white, blue
(thin gauge) yellow, brown, light green, dark green

You have been a huge help... in knowing for sure what
that wire was.. so.. I will be working on my
set up this weekend for the trailer... I will be pulling
24ft enclosed trailer. which I had posted at the begining of this
thread...

Here is mine - Only purchased about a month ago...so its still a pretty new vehicle for me!

Current project has been installing a brake controller (hence the pretty good knowledge on the trailer wiring!). I didnt want to have the brake controller where most people mount them on the kickpanel right near your shin/knee, so i made some modifications to the dash just below the radio and stuck it in there...still need to clean up the hole in the dash, but I'm happy with the mounting position.

I have to comment on your placement for the brake controller...
I agree with you I sure as heck dont want it down by my legs...
its annoying ,,,, trying to set the darn thing while your driving... lol
I had thought about that same very spot for mine .....too.... but
my controller is much different than yours... ( design wise )
you have your slide bar there at the front.... were mine is on the
bottom... so I am not so sure there is room for mine to work
in that same spot.... I will have to look it over... but I know this
it will Not be at my feet like I have it mounted in my GMC truck.

Ah yes I see my signature did not take hold in the system when I set it up....
2004 Express passenger 1500 AWD
I wasn't looking very seriously when I found it listed for sale. I didn't even know a model existed that had passenger doors on both sides... But after taking a look at it and finding it was optioned out exactly as I would want, I put a deposit on the spot.

AWD, passenger, 4-door (well technically 8), Cruise control, keyless entry, G80 locking rear diff, rear heat & A/C, full window, tow package. Bit of a unicorn I think.

Absolutely love the thing so far, and haven't found another one like it yet.
Plan on keeping out mostly stock, just put on a set of leaf spring helpers to help with rear end sag while towing. It will get a light bar in the front (it gets DARK towing snowmobiles up north in the winter) and two Flood LED's in the rear for visibility while loading trailers. Hopefully give a good POR15 treatment to the underside. Also looking into mounting a small aftermarket tach on the dash (trying to figure out where to pickup ignition signal from).

Interested to figure out more about the tow package as well...From what I read it should have a separate trans cooler, but it looks to me like the trans is plumbed into the bottom of the radiator... separate cooler might be an upgrade down the line.
I dont tow heavily all that often...usually a utility trailer with atv's or snowmobiles, or a 2,200# popup camper. Occasionally will be towing my race car, but should stay well within the 6k tow capacity.

Teammuir - What scale RC do you generally fly? I used to work for a hobby shop here in maine...we didnt do much with the large scale planes, but each year a couple of the shops in the state would put on a fly-in that a lot of large scale and jet powered RC would come to...always cool to watch
