So,you welded something to the broken stud to get it out? Lookin' good. And that instrument cluster, too You, and that red.
So, you'll be happy to hear the correct radio showed up on my doorstep today. Hope to install it tomorrow. And we're supposed to have sun on Saturday, so pics could happen.

No, I'm not doing the Sirius. But I chose this radio because it has the HD radio. It's digital, just like Sirius, but is done on the standard FM radio band, as a sub-carrier. And it gives stations the capability of multiple broadcasts, up to 4. And no subscriptions. Check it out;

You may be surprised at how many stations in your area use it. It is similar to what happened to TV. The difference is that turning off the older analog side is way in the future, if ever.

Tachometer
Update on trying to install a tach:
Spent 4 hours trying to get it to work last night.
Wont work.
I tried a few wires that come out of the PCM and none of them put out a tach signal. Tried ones that are supposed to be tach outputs, along with trying an injector control wire. Also used the tip video above and tried to "boost" the signal with +12v going through a resistor. nothing worked.
Thought that maybe my aftermarket tach was bad, but a 30 second google search and 2 minutes later i had it working fine on my Miata...
In doing more research it sounds like there are a fair number of LS engined vehicles where the PCM just does not put out any kind of tach signal.
Autometer does sell an adapter harness with tach adapter (autometer # 9123) for LS engines without PCM output, but it is $180.
What i think i am going to end up doing is purchasing something that just reads the OBDII port under the dash.
Scangauge II ($160): little digital readout that will allow me to see a bunch of info on a small LCD readout...intake temp, mpg, A/F ratio, trans temp etc.
Dakota Digital STA-1000 ($100): adapter box that will output signal to a regular tach. has option to output to a speedometer as well (adjust for different tire sizes down the road!)
