I did not want to wait to order my Power Trax unit .... but its looking like I will
have too.... since I am not sure as to what axle spline I have... or what
is the Norm... for our 3500 series van's then its prolly best for me
to wait and order after I take the rear diff cover off.....
I plan on changing the Oil.... and install a New ( slick ) cover...
along with installing the powertrax unit....

According to Wikipedia, on the differences between the Dana 60 in The Big Three;
"
Ford versions are driver's side differential drop, reverse-cut gears, and kingpin knuckles up to 1991. The later axles have ball joints. Ford Dana 60 axles mostly feature 35 spline inner axle shafts, but some are 30 spline. Larger brakes and 35 spline outer shafts were made standard in 2005.
Dodge versions were passenger side differential drop, standard rotation gears, kingpin knuckles and 35 spline axle shafts in early models. The 2nd Generation axles were driver's side with ball joints. 30 spline axle shafts were used instead of 35 splines, except 2000, 2001 and 2002 models which were equipped with 32 spline axle shafts.
GM versions are passenger side differential drop, standard rotation gears, kingpin knuckles and 35 spline axle shafts."
I wonder, if they're wrong, can you sue?

I would have figured ARTIE 1 would have posted here by now....
I guess I will find out soon enough next week..... its suppose to
be warm again.. we got yet another dusting of SNOW.. ( again ) its APRIL..
my god has anyone told Mother nature... lol
I will tear down the rear axle assembly..
I have some things I am wanting to do beside changing the rear end oil
those will be surprises when I start them....
but It sure would be nice to know what rear axle spline we have
and I guess we just wont know.. no common rule of thumb... so I will
take apart... and I will post my findings..along with other things I will
do doing ..... TO BE CONTINUED.... lol

I installed the Shocks this morning... and front went on just fine.... The Rear on the other
hand was much tougher... ( if the shocks had come with the plastic strap ) like other
shocks do that compress the shock it sure would have made it much easier to install.
The pics show the end results... 1 thing I was looking at after I installed the rear was
the distance of travel the shock actually have... I am sceptical... so I looked at the old
shock and noticed how much travel it was using... all thats well and good... but
under a heavy load or pulling a big trailer.. I am not so sure that the amount of travel
will be sufficient .... The length of the rod on the new rear shock is very long...
I had a Hell of time installing it...I had to raise the body of the van under the tow hitch
using a jack and still had to muscle up the end of the shock into place.
. but after its bolted up .. .well look at the distance
of travel it has...
