Blowing spark control modules
The part should come with some but you never know. Should also come with directions but who reads that stuff? You could order some thermal compound from
(or wherever) for less than $10. Hardest part should be taking the engine cover off. Buy a new ground strap while you are at it. Heat transfer is best between flat smooth surfaces. You might need to sand both surfaces flat and smooth stepping up on grit. Quick search found this for diagnosis: https://easyautodiagnostics.com/gm/4.3L-5.0L-5.7L/distributor-mounted-icm-tests-1
Okay guys. So I bought the heat paste from Amazon and applied it to the ICM. I also changed the cap and rotor while I was there. Used an Accel unit this time.
Cleaned up all grounds and replaced the main, (motor to frame one). So took it on a few short trips around town. Made sure I was at operating temp and all was good so far.
This is my travel van. I am not sure about taking it on a journey just yet. Thanks for all the help you guys and I will let you know how it goes in the future.
