Bought my first van.
1500 2WD with the 5.3
It's a southern van so absolutely no rust anywhere. 185,000 miles but seems to be well cared for. It pulled 17 1/2 MPG on the 60 mile highway drive home if the computer is to be trusted.
The ladder racks and most, if not all, of the furniture inside will be removed and sold. I'm putting together a list of parts and repairs I have to do and will be getting my hands dirty next week. I'll also be hitting up the salvage yard for some upgraded seats and maybe a nicer steering wheel.
I'll be using it for my business building aluminum structures like screen rooms, pool enclosures and patio covers. The extra room and towing capacity will be nice.
Up till now I've been working out of the Grand Caravan parked behind it. It's been a surprisingly capable, comfortable and reliable vehicle but it has its limits.
Nice ya I live in CA so it's probably similar. I am lucky to have a van that looks so good with little rust (except on the engine of course where there's always rust on cars) Wow you got good gas mileage I am lucky to get 11 mpg on city streets. But honestly our city streets move pretty quick out here in a rural area so I would expect better mileage than that.
I am also looking for ladder racks. I can't seem to find any on craigslist or this forum. I guess I gotta keep searching for a good deal.

I see the ladder racks on FaceBook Marketplace pretty regularly. I haven't used Craigslist for years now. I used to but I think Marketplace has mostly taken over.
I do a lot of buying and selling on Marketplace. The trick is to save your search and look every single day. You'll get a feeling for whats out there and good deals won't wait. The best deals I've gotten were just listed and I was the first one to commit.
I sold the ladder rack and all the interior accessories other than the divider. I have some racks that I can mount in a few minutes on the rare occasion I need to carry something on top. 99% of the time they're off. No need to hear the extra wind noise and the van actually fits in my garage for service, by less than one inch, without the racks. I think I got around $1,000 for all of it to a few different people.

Well lucky for me one of the previous owners was a painter who probably wound up repainting the van at some point, because currently the paint is flawless. Seems like this painter guy knew his stuff and massively improved it. OR the other PO had a quickie paint job done on it, and it will fail in a year.
Arghh well FB Market place is a no go for me. I won't use anything by Meta because that Zuck dude is pure evil. Anyways I tried to make an account on there and it just wouldn't let me, asked for me ID. I was like i am not giving a stupid website my ID.
