The brake line to the rear wheels sprung a leak and I lost all brakes. Pedal went to the floor. I don't understand why all four wheels lost braking when this is a two stage system and a leak in one brake line caused all braking to cease. Or actually to not cease.
Why didn't the front brakes work?
All lines have been replaced in this 2001 Savana 2500 series van.

I had a similar experience when a front brake hard line failed (due to rust) on my 2002 Express van. Lost all braking power and it dumped most of the brake fluid overboard.

Do you have an extended van by any chance?

 

Mine is a standard cargo van.

Why can't you use an 8 lug wheel cylinder for the 6 lug van? They are the same size and fit into the recess. Is there something about the master cylinder that precludes it's use?
