Default Chevy Express Cargo RV Project / Window Weathstrips

So as I said in a previous post, I have a 2003 Chevy Express with the Access package meaning the side panels pop out allowing one to access the vehicle from the outside. I have taken these panels off along with the weather stripping to paint it. I am replacing the lift supports of the pop out panels as they are old and do not work very well. The weather stripping is also old and looks very worn. I would like to replace them as well but when I went to my local Chevy Dealership asking at the parts department how much it would be I almost had a heart attack! It will cost me about $1500 to replace the weather stripping!

So I am looking for alternatives. I could clean the weather stripping really well and perhaps use some tire paint to refurbish the old. But I am wondering if there might be a better option. Is there not some universal trim I could buy that would work that isn’t so darn expensive that may even work better than the originals? If so, can someone help me pick the right ones to buy?

Here are are some pictures of the pop out panel cutouts.

Cheers,
Keightley

No. That's not meant to seal.

I went to an auto glass shop as suggested. The guy I talked to said it would work. Now I am being told differently. So... what would work?

Just look up the GM part that actually goes in there, and find a product that looks like it and has the same profile.

It needs to create a seal, like what goes around your door opening. Not an edge protector.

I just bought 2009 with access package and want to replace the weatherstrips on access panels. What did you end up using?
