This is really weird

2008 cutaway van 3500

bus so no regular door on the passenger side and I am 90% sure the only door wired into the dome light is the drivers

so all the sudden the dome light started turning on and off intermittently when I make a turn it hit a big bump

I thought it was the black box in the latch that is so expensive but happened to have that disconnected from the wire and it is still doing it…

shaking the wires in the dome don’t matter, shaking/pushing on any of the doors doesn’t make it come on

shook the wire to the latch box and that doesn’t do anythjng

but if I am driving down the road and turn it comes on and then dims slowly to off like normal

wondered about the switch but shaking that doesn’t make it come on

not sure where else to look

going to turn the done on with the switch and drive with it for a few minutes and see what it does

if I override it with the top of the switch so it does not come on the door it stops the problem

 

So after shaking all the doors and the lights to the actual switch in the dash so far have not been able to make it screw up again…

wondering about the actual light switch or the wires to it

only thing different is I have a the cover off the dome light, will screw that back in and see if it messes anything up - seems unlikely

I will keep this up to date as I figured it out
hopeful it is fixed but I doubt it

 

have not been using this van much but the problem came back, this was after driving it on a really bad road
i will change the expensive 200 part in there sometime the next couple of months and update this on if it solves the problem
