Default Cruise Control Retrofit / Steering Wheel Questions

2013 Chevy Express 2500. Want to retrofit the OEM cruise control system. Don't want to mess with aftermarket stuff.

I understand I'll need a new steering wheel with cruise control switches and possibly an ECU flash.

However, anyone know if I can use the steering wheel with audio controls (part no. 25849482)? Or will only the steering wheel with cruise control (part no. 84443329) work?

EDIT: Yes, 25849482 will work, but you need to tell GM that you have 84443329 to get the flash. And the low end radio won't work with the audio controls.

I'm going to say the radio controls may require the entire column and the radio unit specific to the steering controls. Without inspecting inside of your column there's no way to know if it's equipped for those radio buttons to work. It may also require a specific radio unit.

On vans where the cruise switch was on the signal stalk, vans with no power windows typically do not have the wiring to add a cruise control. I don't know if this carries over to when the control moves to the steering wheel. I did find out that long wheelbase vans 07-up they made cruise/tilt standard equipment.

I ended up buying a steering wheel with the cruise control & audio controls from a junkyard. The audio controls did not work with the stock radio, and they did not work with an aftermarket radio + Axxess AWSC-1 steering wheel control module. The cruise control did not work at the first attempt either.

It appears the clock spring is the same between all the different trims for the van (GM part 20906820). I suspect there's something that needs to be flashed, but I'll beeping things out just to be sure. Local dealer wants 1-2 hours to flash at $170/hr and wants me to me to do all the homework ahead of time.

My van is a long wheelbase, but no tilt/cruise. They updated the dash/steering wheels in 2008. 2007 has the older steering wheel design

It may be 08 is the update year, and it may be that it's the 3500 that has cruise standard.

I found the info when running vins and checking options on potential auction buys in February and then bought the 1994 instead so none of that stuff mattered anymore.

I gather yours had the wiring for the cruise control present?

I manually verified I had the 20906820 clock spring. Not sure what to check beyond that.

I should beep out the steering wheel and the harness underneath the steering wheel when I have a chance, but I'm not even sure if they are simple switches or using a more sophisticated communication method.

I have a 2013 3500 Extended with power windows, locks, RKE, but no cruise control.

I verified the cruise control signal signal wire and the steering wheel control signal wire both reach the BCM.

It's pins 3 and 6 on the green BCM connector. I back probed those and confirmed continuity between the steering wheel and the BCM

Looks like reprogramming the BCM is the last step for me.

Well, an update. Took it into my chevy dealer yesterday, and provided the part numbers for the new steering wheel (25849482), sir coil/clock spring (20906820) and steering column wiring harness (19210255) as per PIT4844J.

The tech called TAC and TAC said that the program wouldn't work with my current setup. The service advisor gave me a GM case number, but didn't have many details other than it wouldn't work at this time. Of course, GM couldn't find the case number, and the tech is on vacation today, so I'm waiting to get more details on why it wouldn't work.
