Default different Headlight Switches?

Hello everybody...
I have a question about the light switch. In my Tahoe from 2002 the switch looked different, but he did not have any Automatic function for the light. With this switch (see picture) I do not quite understand what the leftmost position is for. You can only briefly press in the left position, but the switch does not remain there.
Can someone enlighten me?
And what exactly are the other positions for? How do they work for you?
So I ask because the VAN was imported from FL to Europe and I believe that the privious Owner here has changed something...
It is a GMC Savana from 10/2006

Hi, go to section 3-13 of the owners manual, for the light switch operation. I believe that is the correct switch.

Yes. It is for us Canadians. I cannot turn off my lights while driving. I can however turn off my lights if I am parked. I am not sure of the exact set up for you Americans, if you can actually shut them off while driving, but I cannot.

Depends on the year, would be my guess. I can on my '16, but my '05 Equinox or my '00 Astro can't. The only thing I can do is to start it with the parking brake on. But the lights come on when you release the brakes. I wish my '16 did that.
