re: e c m issues. has anyone cleaned the grounds and also checked and cleaned the pins on the e c m ? has anyone checked for corrosion around the sensors ?

I recall doing a you tube search and finding a very well qualified diagnostic mechanic in NJ who has posted a number of instructional you tubes about diagnosing tough e c m issues.

I have no idea. But this is good to know for the next time someone looks at it. Do you have a link to those videos or know the name of his channel? I was told that a seat has to be taken out and that it’s a pain in the a$$ to get to, and that’s why hours of labor charges are coming into play. Thanks so much for your input!

South Main Auto does some electrical diagnostic work along with everything else.

This channel is more on just electrical diagnostics.

Did you watch the first one I posted that was specifically about stabilitrak errors on an Express?

I did watch all the videos everyone sent and thanks so much! My husband is home today and we will check everything within our power. Unfortunately, neither of us is a mechanic so our knowledge is limited. I think it’s going to come down to finding a diagnostics specialist. Still searching!

A few things. These are ones that I have experienced, and repaired on my own Express van (2014 2500 LT 6.0 Liter).

1. "Service Stabilitrak" message on mine intermittently. Due to a bad "Steering wheel position sensor" code. Found out that it is a VERY COMMON issue with the Express van. Just had mine delivered last Thursday from the Almighty Amazon!

2. I had a wierd issue about a 1.5 years ago. My washer fluid pump would not work. I was not getting any voltage to the pump when the washer switch was depressed. But, the wipers would activate as they should. I ended up figuring out that the "Underhood Fuseblock" was bad. I also determined that this is a fairly common issue, as it sits on top of the wheel well, under the hood. Corrosion happens. Took care of the issue.

3. The Evaporative system leak can be a bad vent solenoid. Or, just a bad o-ring on the gas cap. Look at the O-ring on your gas cap. If it is dried up, or even has one crack in it, it NEEDS replacing.

Best of luck.Keep us informed of what you may find.

I know people who drive late - model Chevys (roadtrek uses the chevy 3500 express ,) Mercedes Benz and dodge pro masters in small class B rv s. . the wheel sensors appear to be very fragile on certain models . on some Benz s , merely driving onto the berm and back on again is enough to destroy the wheel sensor which then sends an erratic signal to the e c m to put the engine into 'limp home' mode (allowing it to be driven at only low speeds to get to a dealer for repair. ) that unexpected reduction of speed to limp mode has caused enough accidents so that NHSA is looking at a safety recall on certain late model Benz s. )

re:2 the gas cap code: on my 3500 express 07, i got that code (I have both a 20$ FIXD and a bosch Actron OBDII reader as I m an EMT and my chevy 3500 is driven to crazy remote locations in 4 states. ) I carry some extra oil and lube the rubber sealing ring of the gas cap with oil. that usually makes the lite go out. before I discovered this trick I wasn't buying a new gas cap every year. engine

re: engine diagnostics by good mechanics: in W PA, I found a great local diagnostician Paul Danner who teaches engine mechanics at a trade school in Pittsburgh . he wrote a book 'Engine Diagnostics' which I bought . He and his brothers run Danners garage. his book has great explanations of how to diagnose engine problems and figure out what might be going wrong based on the OBDII codes . he also posts a lot of diagnostic videos on you tube under the name scannerdanner. you can also read posts on his forum on his website scannerdanner.com.
