Engine Power is Reduced (TPS) throttle position sensor replacement
A couple of weeks ago I received the Engine Power is Reduced message. A little diagnosing seemed to point to a malfunction with the Throttle Position Sensor (TPS). Evidently this is a relatively common problem I found a few different references to it. The wiring and connections all seemed fine so I replace out the primary unit. It did the trick, everything is back in working order, and up to full power! 2010 Express~2500~4.8L
I found that it helped to remove the hose/cable management bracket for access to the back of the tps.
But this is it successfully installed.
The wiring plug and harness looked fine and were well secured. The unit itself is held on by press clips going around the perimeter.
The old unit looked fine.
The underside of the shiny new unit, had to be careful, that the gasket was smooth and seated correctly so as not to be damaged.
I was pleased that the new one fixed the issue and I had full power once again.
I did not test the old one for continuity, maybe it had a short or open.
Also, mechanically it could have gotten bound up and not been able to rotate or some such.
I didn't see anything wrong with it but didn't go any farther than that.
New one still working, with no problems. yay
