Default which engine/tranny

i am looking for something that is reliable and economical, i don't trust the engine in my van it was pretty overheated and the newer engines and transmissions are more economical to drive maybe a 4 spd auto i have a good wrecking yard within 40 miles and plenty of time,it is just a thought, nothing in stone.

Default economy

Don't get a '97 5.7 V8: I get 18 on the highway, but overall is about 13. You need a newer engine for better economy. Mine's a conversion van; 1500 I think it's got a 3.0 differential.

We pay almost 3 bucks for 1 liter of petrol in UK and still run 350 5.7 engine. 1000cc Fiesta engine may help you. Jock

What van do you have and what engine, tranny and axle ratio do you have. Also what tire size is on the door placard?
