Default Express vs. G Vans???

I am looking to buy a Chevy van, but I am getting confused. What is the difference between the Chevy Express and the G vans??? Is one better than the other??? They seem about the same price. I am looking for the most reliable and the easiest to work on myself, well good gas milage is a plus too.

Help cause I am confused but need to buy one soon.

Thanks

The "G" series vans were made up until 1995. 1996-now are the Express series vans. I own a 95 G-20,(208,000 miles) solid as a tank.

I don't know why you say that the prices are about the same. What year range are you looking at? The tires/wheels on the Express are bigger, and the ride is a bit higher as well. I like the rear step on the bumper on the Express. What do you want to use the van for?

Good gas mileage? haha, not with these vans, sorry.

I am looking for one between 2001 and 2005. I will be using the van to convert to an RV adding a bed and bath.

Cool, then for those model years, you just have the Chevy Express or the GMC Savanna. Are you going to be doing the work yourself? If so that is quite a project. I think more people on here have Express vans rather then the "G" series, they should help you with your questions, good luck.

I have a G. I think the Expresses/Savanas are ugly from like 96-00, especially the base model one. If you happen to get an CV style then they look better with the sleek grilles. I like the G vans because the same reason, the grilles are interchangeable. I had the single headlight, not the dual but I tinted the turn signal lenses, but in Euro style squares, swapped the taillights from left to right and turned them upside down and tinted those too.

I think you should get, if you can find it, I saw one on Ebay, a 1971-76 Beauville in good to great shape, you should get that. Then put in the post 85 taillights and hit it with the 17-20" chrome wheel kit and a few LED bars wrapped around the grille or in the turn signals.

Expresses are only better because they have a longer nose so better crash protection.

I have a 2009 2500 cargo for hauling my dogs to shows. Also comes in handy for moving friends out of apartments

On a recent 3200 mile trip I got an average of 16.7 mpg so it isn't tooooo bad on the fuel. It has the 6 liter motor

I just picked up a 05 express 1500 cargo. I chose it because it was one of the few vans factory equipped with AWD. Id rather have a black or grey van, but the white was just too common. Now i call it my "stormtrooper" ( cause its white and black) I too plan on making it a sort of camper, but just very basic. ( no shower

Cant wait to see how horrid my mileage is!
