Default Fixed: 1994 G20 305 running poorly

Hello everyone,

I'm writing this post because I'm freakin' pumped and I want to thank you all for having unknowingly helped me via all the posts I've read trying to fix my '94 G20.
Last year I had an issue with backfiring and no power under throttle and I replaced just about everything but the spark plug wires (which ultimately were the issue) thanks to this forum and its members.
It ran great again for a year.

Two days ago it had been raining heavily and I got in my van to drive to work at 3am and it ran like ****. Felt like it wasn't getting any fuel and I was quite unhappy at the prospect of replacing the fuel pump and the rusted *** fuel lines, which is only a matter of time. I drove to the gas station with the dog house off in case my fuel gauge finally gave up since it hadn't really moved in a while and it ran fine. Filled up and spluttered and backfired all the way home past all the protestors (dog house on).

You might see where this is going. I just drove to autozone to get some carb cleaner to check for vacuum leaks (cover off) and it ran fine. I got back in and noticed my "brand new" spark plug wires had some brown spots on them that just so happened to zap me when I touched them while running. And so I also noticed the holes in the insulation on the dog house cover.

And so gents I'm writing today to foremost thank you for being here, as I've never had the chance to do. And to share this story so that people with a similar problem might troubleshoot and get back on the road.
These were the 8.0mm cheap *** Amazon spark plug wires. Does anyone have any recommendations for wires that won't burn out in a year? And also it seems like any wires' close proximity to the foil lining of the engine cover will cause this problem again. Has anyone else had this issue?

I'd find some ACDelco, then since your plug wire routing plastic clips are likely long gone make some with zip ties.
