Front jounce bumpers

Front jounce bumpers
Has anyone ever noticed on the 3500 vans the controls are riding on the bumpers? To me this would create a stiff ride in front. Any reason known as to why they sit on them all the time? It should be the springs job to hold vehicle up, not the bumpers. The shocks control the spring action.
Ive always thought my van needed more compression travel to absorb things but now I see why it doesn't. I thought about removing then and driving to see if t helps any. I know they need to be there for hard sudden unseen hits, but like most vehicles here should be clearance there and only come in contact with bumper in extreme cases

2006 3500 with 6.0
155k miles.
yes the lower control arms are always touching the bumpers
Not compressing them, but touch. So any compression movement would be inhibited by the bumpers.
I'll got grab a pic now

You can see deteriation of the bunker from being used/hit so much
Here you can see there's very little distance between control arm and bumper. Doesn't allow for much compression action before inhibited by bumper
No it's coil spring.

Yeah I notice they all sit like this. Just seems wrong. When all other vehicle have more clearance. I might take them off and see if it improves ride. Might not make a hill of beans difference. I know it needs shocks in front, it bounces a good bit. But it's the initial hit. But it might be the huge springs in it that comes with 3500

With 12 years and 155k on it, the springs may be sagging a bit. I don't know how hard those miles/years were, but it's a thought.
And when you do the shocks, consider these;

They were suggested by a member here, and since then, a couple of us have gotten them. I haven't installed the back ones yet, but the front ones made a huge difference.
