ACDelco #17064623DN Vapor Canister

I have recently, been encountering fuel back splashing when filling my 216,000 mile, 1985 G20 fuel tank. . I am confident that the fuel tank's vent line to the #17064623DN, ACDelco vapor canister is not clogged, as I have, also, recently, replaced the fuel tank and the sending unit, cleaned-up the fuel tank inlet and vent tube and the lines from the sending unit, and the lines to the engine compartment. . On the old, 1985, 216,000 mile, original, #17064623DN, ACDelco vapor canister, the PCV solenoid small, top, tube/port will hold vacuum, and the bottom tube/port will not allow air to blow into canister unless the small, top, tube/port has vacuum applied to it. . The Carb Bowl solenoid small, top, tube/port will hold vacuum, and the bottom tube/port will allow air to be blown into canister with or without vacuum applied to the small, top, tube/port of the solenoid, could solenoid be stuck? . The Fuel Tank tube/port will allow air to be blown into the canister, and air will exit the Air Clnr tube while air is being blown into the Fuel Tank tube/port. . I have found a 'new, old stock', #17064623DN, ACDelco vapor canister, and I am waiting for it to arrive. I have been finding many, mentions that the old, 1985, 216,000 mile, original, vapor canister is my problem. .. I am curious if this is my problem, being that the canister does appear to allow air to be blown into the Fuel Tank port and out of the Air Clnr port of the canister.

The 'new, old stock', #17064623DN, ACDelco vapor canister, which I was fortunate to have been able to find on Ebay, arrived. The only, differences in the new and the old, original was that the old weighed a bit over a pound heavier, and loose charcoal could not be heard when shaken, as could be heard when the new canister was shaken, the old felt as if it were solid inside. I suppose it should go without saying that the old canister had a strong hydrocarbon odor when air was introduced and then exiting the old, canister. .. The fuel tank only took 6.5 gal to fill, (I did not top off, stopped at nozzle shut off), and I was gun shy to let her rip, so I was just, shy off of the first of two lever stops, fuel did back splash a small amount, hoping that might improve, either way, I feel it could not have hurt in the least replacing the old, original vapor can with a new one.
