Default How do I fix overheating engine

Hi all- I know this thread is old...but maybe someone still has some suggestions...

Just started towing a 37 travel trailer(8800lbs) and I am noticing that my check engine light comes on and display message states ENGINE HOT, A/C TURNED OFF and starts to sputter when I am only backing the trailer into its storage site. I am interested if this transmission cooler and or a engine oil cooler will help in fixing my issue. I've got a 2015 Express 2500 with 152K miles on it.

Also, any other upgrade suggestions on towing with this vehicle would be great. I have the CURT ECHO brake controller and RECURVE R3 sway hitch.

Thanks!

When you receive the message, what is the coolant temperature ?
Instead of masking the real problem I would try to figure out why it is overheating.

It could be something like a fan clutch, a thermostat, a water pump or a leak.
I would troubleshoot a little bit more.

Good luck

I sure hope you have an external transmission AND engine oil cooler, if towing that much. Otherwise you will be overheating.
