Question How To Remove Driver Side Defroster Vent?

Well, do I feel like an idiot. We were on a road trip out to Utah, New Mexico, Arizona and Colorado recently. I have installed front and rear HD cameras, operated through a rear view mirror/camera/dvd control system, mounted over the factory rear view mirror.
The system uses micro SD cards to record the cameras outputs, mounted in the rear view mirror assembly. Well, I went to remove the micro SD card from the mirror and, for the first time, instead of barely releasing from its holder, the micro SD card flew out of the slot that holds it,and landed on the dashboard, slid down the dashboard and into the driver side defroster vent! Jeez oh man!
The card had on it 2 hrs of video or us driving through come awesome country around Zion National Park.
Me Hayes manual says nothing about removing the duct. Inspection doesn't reveal how to get at the bottom of that duct.
I'm at a loss.

Help!

I wonder how hard it is to remove the whole dash. I wish I would have looked into this, because sometimes I think it just would have been easier for installing certain things. Does a person just drop the steering wheel, unplug the electrical harnesses and take out six securing bolts? Is that all there is to it?

It would probably solve your problem, until I then I guess you found safe storage. Literally.

My dash is partly apart right now, if I pull the bezel I will take a look for you. The ducts, from what I have seen, they likely just dry fit each other. There's no real means of assembly, they just slip into one another from what I have seen so far. You might have to undo a few screws that mount whatever duct to the dash, but at the connections I assume there is nothing to undo.
