Installing car alarm with remote start
Hi guys..
I gonna install a car alarm in my -05 Gmc Savana..
Have anyone done this? Diffucult?
Anyone that has any wiring diagrams for this van...
Also the car has the stock remote so my guess would be that I have to
disable this and connect the alarm next to it?
Any suggestions or hints are much appreciated..
Regards Michael

Yes, take it to a shop. I got mine just done for 329 installed....Its a hassle if you don't know what you are doing.
I got mine connected to the factory keyless, and had a starter kill done to for that price....
I had broke my fobs and the dealer wanted 150 bucks for a new one programmed to the van.....for double that I got security and no headaches.....

Mine will not go to a shop. I hardly even trust the dealership mechanics as I knew one. I might be interested in adding an alarm down the road. I am not really sure yet, I might do something different than off the shelf. If anyone has experiences I'd like to see them post.

Hi started to work on this..
And of course some questions came along...
If I understand it right? From tsbrewers answer..
On the link form the 12v site..
Does the BCM module control the hole thing?
No remote box for the "standard" remote?
The standard remote communicates directly whit the bcm module??

Finally I figuerd out how to bypass the GM passlock II on this one...
Everywhere I looked there where the wrong colors etc...
Here are some pics on how to do it...
This is the ignition harness that comes down from your steering wheel
Here's one on how to connect your resistor
The other one from the key side, you should just isolate...
When I measured mine I got 0,526k ohm, I had a resistor that had 0,55k ohms on it and it worked fine.... Read that it should be within of 1% of the original measurment... when you measure this the key should be in the ignition position... don't crank it. If you do it will crank but it will stop immediatly. Since it will cut the ignition and fuel, and will go into tamper mode. Nothing to do but to wait it out 10-30min... then you're good to go again. When you got the right ohms in place, the security light will come off. If your sercurity light is on and it starts, it will probably not start the next time...
Think I haven't forgotten anything....
This is how I've done so far, but thinking of putting a relay between the
resistor and the ignition....
The remote start is almost done, just a few more mods and were off
